Meal planning doesn’t work for my schedule.
There is no right or wrong way to meal plan or meal prep. Stop using the excuse that meal planning doesn’t work for your schedule, you just haven’t found a meal planning method that works for you. If you don’t want to meal prep on Sundays, simply find a different day that works for you.
You must plan every meal.
You don’t have to meal plan every week/every meal. Some people only meal plan dinners, other people plan breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. You could develop meal plan for every two weeks or every month, it is completely up to you.
Meal planning takes hours of planning, chopping, & cooking.
Truth: Meal planning does take some time and planning, but not as much as you think.
Say, making dinner every night takes you 1.5 hours per night but this week you decided to meal plan and prep your dinners for 3 hours on Saturday, thus reducing your daily dinner prep to 15 mins. How much is 5.5 hours’ worth to you?
1.5 hour a night or 10.5 hours per week spent making dinner
3 hours of meal planning and prep on the weekend, reducing your evening meal prep to 15 mins a night (Let’s round to 2 hours per week). Saving you 5.5 hours a week.
*These numbers are obviously not going to be the same for everyone but after a long day of work or kids screaming all day, what is even an extra half an hour worth to you?
You need special containers to meal plan.
You don’t need special containers. As much as I would love you to click on my affiliate links and buy all new containers, you don’t need them. You need to store your food in something, but it doesn’t need to be the newest bento box.
You need special appliances to meal prep.
Unless you have never boiled water in your life or you eat out every meal, you probably have what you need in your kitchen. I am not going to lie, specialty appliances like an instant pot speeds up meal prep, but are totally not necessary.
